Stephen Kwaku Darku is a distinguished Ghanaian international trade professional, entrepreneur, and development advocate whose career spans more than two decades across land administration, international commerce, volunteerism, and strategic partnerships. He is widely recognised for his commitment to fostering bilateral cooperation, promoting sustainable development, and facilitating international trade and investment.
Mr. Darku currently serves as the Executive Director of the Ghana India Chamber of Commerce (GICC), where he provides strategic leadership in advancing economic diplomacy and strengthening trade, investment, and business relations between Ghana and India. Through his role, he supports the development of strategic partnerships and creates platforms for greater collaboration between businesses, institutions, and stakeholders in both countries.
His leadership and professional engagement extend to the international volunteer movement. Mr. Darku is a Certified JCI Global Networker and an esteemed Senator of Junior Chamber International (JCI). He completed the prestigious JCI Global Networker Programme in Japan, an experience that strengthened his competencies in international networking, cross-cultural collaboration, strategic engagement, and global leadership.
Mr. Darku has actively participated in numerous international forums and attended several United Nations Summits, engaging with global leaders, policymakers, development practitioners, and civil society organisations on issues including sustainable development, international cooperation, youth development, volunteerism, and global partnerships.
His international exposure includes professional travel to more than 30 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and the Middle East. These experiences have broadened his global perspective and strengthened his ability to build and manage strategic relationships across cultures, sectors, and institutions.
A passionate advocate for volunteerism, civic responsibility, and youth empowerment, Mr. Darku serves as the President of Global Volunteers Corps (GVC), an organisation dedicated to promoting volunteerism as a catalyst for national development. Through this platform, he has championed a range of community development initiatives spanning education, healthcare, agriculture, environmental sustainability, youth empowerment, and active citizenship.
Academically, Mr. Darku holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Ghana, a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from the University of Cape Coast, and a Certificate in Journalism from the Ghana Institute of Journalism. His multidisciplinary academic background complements his extensive practical experience in governance, strategic communication, public policy, business development, international relations, and organisational leadership.
